Taxi
Taxi apps in Mozambique: the options that actually work
If you need a ride in Maputo or Matola, three routes exist today: international platforms with a confirmed local presence, Mozambican taxi services, and ecosystem platforms such as Tsemba that combine rides, food and delivery in one account.

Quick answer
Yango publishes official pages for Maputo, Beira and Matola, covering rides and deliveries. Viva Taxi is a Mozambican service with an app on Google Play. Tsemba runs rides, food, parcel delivery and a digital wallet, with cashless payments only.
Uber and Bolt do not list Mozambican cities on their official city pages at the time of this update.
How app-based taxis work
You set a pickup point and destination, see a fare estimate, get matched with a nearby driver and follow the vehicle on the map. Driver name and plate number are visible before you get in.

What to compare before choosing
- Real coverage in your neighbourhood, tested at different times of day.
- Accepted payment methods — mobile wallets such as M-Pesa, e-Mola and mKesh, or cards.
- Fare transparency before you confirm.
- Driver identification and verification.
- Local customer support in Portuguese.
- Whether food and parcel delivery share the same account.
Where Tsemba fits
Tsemba is an African mobility and delivery platform built around four products: Tsemba Ride, Tsemba Food, Tsemba Delivery and the Tsemba wallet, which stores balance and transaction history.
All payments are cashless — M-Pesa, e-Mola, mKesh, Visa and Mastercard. Partner drivers and couriers pay no commission on ride value.
